Meet the Teacher

My name is Raven Grider and I have been a teacher for as long as I can remember... literally. I started coaching gymnastics when I was just 15 years old, and I have continued to coach for the last 10 years.

I'm now 25 and this is my third year teaching...but my first official full year. My first year teaching I taught 1st grade self-contained EIP. My second year, I taught kindergarten-- but was then moved due to the leveling process. I got moved to teach 2nd grade and although it was a difficult transition, I feel extremely blessed to have had the opportunity to work with such wonderful people and students before being moved. I strongly believe that I was moved to be where I am today for several reasons and some that are still unknown. Teaching 2nd grade has been the two most rewarding, challenging, and wonderful years of my life.

Besides coaching, I enjoy volunteering and working with children/adults with special needs. I have had a passion to teach individuals with intellectual, physical, and emotional disabilities for most of my life. All of those experiences have had a great impact on the teacher I am today; the impact can be summed up into one very powerful quote: "Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish on its ability to climb a tree, it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid."
